What is ABA therapy?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It helps children learn new skills, improve communication, and reduce challenging behaviors through positive reinforcement and individualized strategies. At IRIS, we use ABA to support your child’s growth in a way that’s respectful, joyful, and meaningful.
Where do services take place?
Services are delivered in-home, in daycare settings, and in the community. We also offer school consultation and parent support services. Our goal is to support your child where they live, play, and learn best.
Do you offer clinic-based services?
At this time, IRIS does not offer clinic-based services. All of our sessions are provided in natural environments such as the home, school, or daycare to ensure that skills are learned in meaningful, real-life settings.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We are currently in-network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, and Connecticut Medicaid (Husky A & C). If your plan isn’t listed, please contact us — we may still be able to help.
How are therapy goals chosen?
Goals are developed through a collaborative assessment process between you and your child’s BCBA. We consider your child’s current needs, strengths, and the priorities you share as a family. We want goals to be both developmentally appropriate and truly meaningful to your everyday life.
Can I be involved in sessions?
Absolutely. Parent involvement is a key part of what makes therapy effective. We offer regular parent training, coaching, and ongoing communication so you feel informed, confident, and supported.
What if my child doesn’t like therapy at first?
It’s completely normal for children to need time to adjust. We use a gentle, assent-based approach to ensure your child feels safe and heard during sessions. Our team takes care to build rapport, follow your child’s lead, and work at a pace that’s right for them.
What makes IRIS different from other ABA providers?
At IRIS, we believe in providing care that’s grounded in respect, compassion, and clinical excellence. We’re a small, focused practice — which means we build strong relationships, offer individualized attention, and truly get to know each family. You’re not just a number here — you’re a partner.
